About the role
The Senior Health and Nutrition Officer will lead the quality implementation of primary health care and reproductive health services across Sudan, with a focus on strengthening PHC facilities in Khartoum. Reporting to the Program Manager, the role supports joint planning, capacity building, and service accessibility in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and partner organisations.
Key responsibilities
- Provide technical oversight of primary and reproductive health care activities, ensuring alignment with program goals.
- Facilitate joint planning and capacity assessments for PHC centres, supporting the Ministry of Public Health to improve service accessibility.
- Coordinate training needs assessments with district medical directors and deliver refresher training for PHC and maternal health providers.
- Guide health officers and medical logisticians in developing and maintaining health information systems for data collection, analysis, and decision‑making.
- Organise regular review meetings to monitor progress, address issues, and implement improvement actions.
- Manage human and material resources in compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
- Maintain professional relationships with the Ministry of Health, INGOs, local NGOs, and other stakeholders at central and governorate levels.
- Collaborate closely with the Nutrition Manager and M&E Officer under the supervision of the Health & Nutrition Coordinator.
- Participate in proposal writing, programme work‑plan preparation, and grant management.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in primary health care and reproductive health service delivery.
- Proven ability to manage PHC facilities and coordinate with government health authorities.
- Experience in training health‑care providers and strengthening health information systems.
- Strong organisational and resource‑management skills.
- Ability to build and maintain partnerships with NGOs, INGOs, and public sector stakeholders.
