Rehabilitation Technical Officer – Khartoum

About the role

The Rehabilitation Technical Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Project Manager to lead the implementation of physical and functional rehabilitation activities in Khartoum. The role combines technical oversight, capacity building of physiotherapists and other health workers, and a comprehensive assessment of the rehabilitation sector in Sudan.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance to ensure rehabilitation activities meet HI’s internal quality standards and international protocols.
• Lead the resumption of physiotherapy services at the Khartoum physical rehabilitation centre and develop context‑specific clinical protocols.
• Conduct a sector assessment covering needs, service availability, workforce mapping, supply‑chain for assistive products and barriers to access.
• Design and deliver training packages for physiotherapists and rehabilitation staff, including competency assessment and CPD tracking.
• Represent HI’s rehabilitation expertise in local, regional and international networks and contribute to advocacy and proposal writing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in pediatric or physical rehabilitation care.
• Good knowledge of HI’s stimulation therapy approach and related protocols.
• Familiarity with national and international nutrition rehabilitation guidelines.
• Experience working in a humanitarian organization, preferably in hospital or rehabilitation centre settings.
