Mental Health & Psychosocial Support Coordinator

About the role

The Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Coordinator will lead the country’s MHPSS programming, overseeing strategy, implementation, and monitoring of multiple projects. This role manages a multidisciplinary MHPSS team and works closely with local NGOs, government partners, and communities to ensure effective delivery of mental health services.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate MHPSS programming, develop strategies, and monitor project progress.
• Manage the MHPSS team, including field managers, psychiatrists, and national staff; conduct performance reviews and support professional development.
• Collaborate with local NGO partners and government focal points for project implementation and monitoring.
• Provide technical guidance, develop and deliver Training of Trainers (ToT) on Psychological First Aid and related topics.
• Develop referral pathways and IEC materials to strengthen links to MHPSS and protection services.
• Oversee monitoring and evaluation, create M/E tools, and analyze program data.
• Prepare regular MHPSS reports and ensure alignment with IMC and global MHPSS standards.
• Coordinate with other sector teams for an integrated approach and mainstream MHPSS across IMC operations.
• Participate in coordination meetings to share information, improve referral mechanisms, and promote best practices.

Required profile

• Four‑year university degree in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, social work, psychiatry, nursing).
• Professional qualification as a mental health practitioner (psychologist, clinical social worker, psychiatrist, or psychiatric nurse).
