Architectural Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

The Architectural Infrastructure Engineer will support the analysis, conceptualisation and technical assurance of architectural solutions for UNOPS‑funded infrastructure projects in Sudan. Working under the Project Manager, the role ensures that design products meet contractual scope, functional requirements, regulations, sustainability criteria and UNOPS quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review architectural and functional deliverables produced by internal or external designers for compliance with scope, acceptance criteria, regulations and quality standards.
• Provide technical follow‑up on conceptual designs, technical master plans, preliminary designs, design bases, test plants, public‑space guidelines and sustainability criteria.
• Develop review matrices, technical observation lists, acceptance recommendations and scope‑compliance records.
• Identify deviations, omissions or ambiguities in design outputs and propose corrective actions or clarification requests to contractors.
• Support the preparation of technical documentation and ensure alignment with project needs and internationally financed project requirements.

Required profile

• Experience in reviewing architectural designs and ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to interpret design rules, guidelines and sustainability criteria.
• Strong analytical skills to detect inconsistencies and recommend corrective measures.
• Capacity to work collaboratively with designers, contractors and project managers.
