SBC Consultant – Polio & Immunization (Remote, travel)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a qualified SBC Consultant to support polio and immunization activities in Sudan. The consultant will work remotely with periodic travel to Khartoum and other locations, providing technical expertise to develop and implement social and behaviour change strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and adapt federal and state‑level SBC strategies for polio preparedness and outbreak response.
• Provide technical assistance for evidence‑based micro‑plans using IM, LQAS, refusal tracking, social investigations and KAP research.
• Support pre‑campaign readiness, including stakeholder mapping, mobilization planning and community engagement.
• Oversee campaign implementation, monitor progress, and lead post‑campaign follow‑up for missed children and zero‑dose identification.
• Design and deliver targeted SBC interventions to address vaccine hesitancy, refusals and misinformation.
• Develop and review key messages, IEC materials, and strengthen rumor‑tracking and rapid‑response mechanisms.
• Mentor and build capacity of health promotion officers on SBC micro‑planning, IPC, community engagement and monitoring tools.
• Coordinate with health, SBC partners and ministries, and contribute to technical coordination meetings.
• Analyse SBC data, produce monthly briefs, document best practices and prepare comprehensive campaign reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in social, behavioural or communication sciences or a related field.
• Relevant professional experience in social and behaviour change, immunization or public health programmes.
• Sudan national (as indicated by “Nationals only”).
• Ability to travel within Sudan and work remotely.

Required skills

• IM (Immunization Monitoring) methodology.
• LQAS (Lot Quality Assurance Survey) techniques.
• KAP (Knowledge, Attitudes, Practices) survey experience.
