In-Country Consultant for VL & Schistosomiasis Programs

About the role

Oriole Global Health is seeking an experienced In‑Country Consultant to lead the coordination and implementation of its Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) programmes in Sudan, focusing on Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL) and Schistosomiasis mass‑drug administration. The consultant will work directly with the Federal Ministry of Health, State Ministries of Health and OGH partners to ensure effective planning, delivery and monitoring of interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Represent OGH in Sudan and maintain strong relationships with the FMoH, SMoHs and other stakeholders.
• Support planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of VL activities, including active case finding, mobile mentoring, health education, training, surveillance and DHIS2 reporting.
• Monitor VL treatment facilities for medicine, diagnostic and equipment availability.
• Assist in the rollout of national VL guidelines, protocols and tools.
• Lead Schistosomiasis MDA micro‑planning, training, logistics, social mobilisation, supervision and data collection.
• Collect, validate and report programme and MDA data, maintain work‑plans and track progress.
• Prepare activity reports, technical documentation and liaise with OGH finance teams on financial documentation.
• Participate in technical working groups and national/state coordination meetings.
• Help strengthen the capacity of the FMoH and SMoHs to deliver quality NTD services.

Required profile

• Medical, public health or related health qualification.
• Proven experience implementing public‑health programmes in Sudan.
• Experience working with the Federal and State Ministries of Health.
• Strong programme planning, monitoring and reporting background.
• Fluency in Arabic and good written and spoken English.
• Willingness and ability to travel within Sudan.
