About the role
The Protection Officer will lead the implementation of protection activities in Tawilah, Sudan, ensuring timely and accountable delivery of services in line with NRC policies. The role involves field monitoring, case identification, referrals, and coordination with partners and local authorities.
Key responsibilities
- Lead protection monitoring, case identification and referral processes according to NRC tools, SOPs and the annual work plan.
- Conduct regular field visits to settlements, facilitate focus groups, observations and surveys to inform protection monitoring.
- Identify protection cases during visits, refer them to appropriate services and follow up on referrals.
- Supervise Technical Assistants and coordinate with partners, local authorities and other NRC teams.
- Prepare status reports, ensure proper filing of documents and support M&E activities.
- Ensure procurement, development and distribution of protection materials and equipment follow procedures.
Required profile
- 2‑3 years of experience as a protection staff member in humanitarian or recovery contexts.
- University degree in social sciences, law, gender studies, human rights or related field.
- Fluency in English and Arabic; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
- Experience working in complex, volatile environments and with multi‑sectoral humanitarian response.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Good computer literacy, including use of smartphones.
