Security Operations Centre Assistant

About the role

The Security Operations Centre Assistant (SOC Assistant) supports the Department of Safety and Security in Khartoum by managing telecommunications and radio communications for UN personnel and partners. Working closely with Field Security Coordination Officers and Security Wardens, the role ensures reliable, secure communication during daily operations and emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Operate UN standard VHF, HF and satellite communication equipment, receive dispatches and relay messages promptly.
• Maintain continuous radio contact with all users, stations and vehicles on the UN inter‑agency network.
• Track missions, monitor news 24/7 and report security incidents or accidents involving UN staff.
• Log all incoming and outgoing radio, telephone and messenger communications and disseminate security advisories.
• Ensure compliance with radio procedures, call signs and standard operating protocols.
• Maintain up‑to‑date staff and vehicle lists, and support the radio room’s equipment upkeep.
• Provide basic technical support for communications equipment and assist ICT staff with installations.
