Humanitarian Access & Security Officer – Khartoum

About the role

Humanity & Inclusion is seeking an experienced security professional to support the opening of new operations in East Sudan. The role will ensure the safety of staff, develop security protocols and provide training to local teams in a highly volatile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Identify local resources and set up minimum security standards and protocols.
• Develop roadmaps and security packages for Khartoum, Al Jazeera, Port Sudan and other target areas.
• Conduct risk and context analyses, including access, safety, legal and reputational risks.
• Update contacts lists and security packs as operations expand.
• Design and consolidate SOPs for access, movement and AVR activities, in collaboration with partners.
• Analyse premises in Al Jazeera (and Khartoum if applicable) and monitor implementation of security improvements.
• Equip the Khartoum office and guesthouse and train all staff on security procedures.
• Support the HAS supervisor and the implementation of rehabilitation, IHA and mine‑action activities under the CDCS grant.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience managing security in highly volatile and remote environments, preferably in the Sahel region.
• Willingness to travel to sensitive and remote areas within Darfur.
• Fluent English (mandatory); Arabic is a strong advantage.
• Strong communication, negotiation and reporting skills.
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal and intercultural abilities.
• Capacity to work independently and as part of a team under challenging conditions.

What we offer

• 2‑month renewable international contract based in Khartoum.
• Gross salary of €2,800 per month, plus €685 net per diem and €500 net hardship allowance.
• Unemployment insurance (EU nationals), pension scheme, medical coverage (50 % employee contribution) and repatriation insurance.
• 25 days paid leave per year and R&R (5 days every 8 weeks).
• Collective housing provided by HI for unaccompanied staff.
