Finance Technical Assistant (Kadugli) – Nationals Only

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is hiring a Finance Technical Assistant in Kadugli, Sudan, for its support function. The post covers day-to-day implementation of support functions, including cash management, petty cash and payment processing. Only candidates physically present in Kadugli are eligible to apply.

Key responsibilities

• Manage petty cash and the cash box on a day-to-day basis
• Manage cash payments and prepare payment requests for cash and cheques, ensuring timely settlement of undisputed invoices
• Maintain up-to-date records and project accounts on the system so accurate information is available and reported
• Perform cash and bank reconciliations and carry out daily, weekly, monthly and periodic cash counts
• Track cash advances and ensure they are cleared on time
• Ensure support documents are complete and accurate before each financial transaction
• Take a leading role in scanning and online archiving of transaction documents in line with NRC SSD policy
• Prepare status reports as required by management, file documents properly and promote improvements to the support function
• Actively participate in cash programming and maintain confidentiality of the programme operation

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Support Function Assistant in a humanitarian or recovery context, in complex and volatile settings
• University degree or diploma in Finance, Economics or a related field, plus minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
• Good knowledge of the Kadugli context
• Ability to interact with national and international staff, work accurately under pressure and communicate with respect

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• English is required; Arabic is an added advantage
