Excel Specialist – Remote Data Operations

About the role

We are looking for an Excel Specialist to serve as the backbone of our data operations, turning raw numbers into actionable business intelligence. The role is fully remote and supports finance, marketing, and operations teams across Africa by building advanced spreadsheet tools, automated dashboards, and interactive templates.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain complex, scalable Excel spreadsheets, pivot tables, and interactive dashboards.
• Write and maintain VBA scripts and macros to automate data entry, extraction, and report generation.
• Clean, validate, and merge large datasets from multiple sources using Power Query and advanced lookup formulas.
• Develop dynamic forecasting, budgeting, and performance‑tracking models for senior management.
• Audit and troubleshoot existing Excel files to resolve formula errors and data mapping issues.
• Translate technical data insights into visual formats and train cross‑functional remote teams on reporting templates.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in data analysis, spreadsheet management, or financial modeling.
• Proven ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage deadlines across African time zones.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel – advanced formulas, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, Power Pivot, Power Query.
• VBA programming and macro development.
• Power BI basics.
• SQL database familiarity.
• Data visualization principles.
