Finance Officer – Temporary Cover (4‑month contract)

About the role

The Finance Officer will support finance functions in Trócaire’s Kurchi office, ensuring effective internal controls and accountability for the Sudan programme. This is a 4‑month fixed‑term contract reporting to the Programme Accountant.

Key responsibilities

• Review and manage financial controls, policies and procedures in line with Trócaire standards and international accounting norms.
• Maintain petty‑cash, process field float requests, and ensure accurate documentation of all cash purchases.
• Compile timely financial records, prepare budget forecasts, and support partner grant management and reporting.
• Coordinate partner risk assessments, provide capacity‑building support, and monitor partner financial reporting for compliance.
• Ensure proper filing of financial documents on Trócaire systems and assist with office upkeep and equipment maintenance.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience in finance within a development or humanitarian organisation.
• Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance; CPA or ACCA qualification required.
• Experience working in Sudan or similarly complex/insecure contexts.
• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team under stressful conditions.

Required skills

• Strong accounting and budgeting skills, including multi‑currency donor budgeting and FX calculations.
• Proficiency with ERP/financial systems (e.g., Agresso Business World) and advanced Excel.
• Ability to prepare and consolidate financial reports in donor currencies.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
