Country Director - Sudan

About the role

GOAL is seeking a senior leader to head its operations in Sudan. The Country Director will be based in Port Sudan and will oversee the design, implementation and monitoring of integrated health, nutrition, WASH and food security programmes across South Kordofan and North Darfur.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and overall management of GOAL’s country programme, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and donor requirements.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team of programme, technical, finance and administration staff, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Represent GOAL with government authorities, UN agencies, NGOs and donors, advocating for humanitarian access and resources.
• Oversee programme planning, budgeting, risk management and compliance with humanitarian standards.
• Ensure effective monitoring, evaluation and learning to demonstrate impact and inform future interventions.

Required profile

• Proven senior management experience in humanitarian or development contexts, preferably in Sudan or similar conflict‑affected settings.
• Strong understanding of health, nutrition, WASH and food security sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large, multi‑partner programmes and budgets.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
