Security Associate

About the role

The National UN Volunteer Security Associate will support the UNFPA Country Office Security Unit in safeguarding personnel, assets and operations in Sudan. The role involves security monitoring, information management and operational coordination in a high‑risk environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, verify, analyse and disseminate security‑related information from UN agencies, partners, media and field networks.
• Prepare security alerts, daily situation updates, incident reports and analytical briefings.
• Support operation and maintenance of security communication systems such as radios, satellite phones and emergency notification tools.
• Assist in testing and maintaining the UN Warden System, security plans and contingency procedures.
• Conduct physical security assessments of offices, guesthouses and operational facilities to ensure compliance with Security Risk Management requirements.
• Maintain personnel records, security asset inventories and operational documentation, and follow up on security incidents.

Required profile

• Secondary school education completed.
• Minimum three years of experience in a security‑related environment.
• Experience with UN security systems, international organisations or NGOs is an advantage.
• Strong organisational, analytical and communication abilities.
• Ability to travel to field locations and operate in high‑risk environments.
