AVR Specialist – Khartoum (Explosive Ordnance Risk Education)

About the role

The AVR Specialist will support Humanity & Inclusion’s mandate in Sudan by leading the technical strategy for explosive ordnance risk education (EORE) and victim assistance (VA). Based in Khartoum, the role ensures high‑quality, impact‑driven AVR projects through robust monitoring, capacity‑building and coordination with partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor the AVR sectoral sub‑strategy aligned with national and regional priorities.
• Provide technical input on EORE and VA to programme planning and ensure integration with conflict‑sensitivity analyses.
• Lead capacity‑building activities for HI staff and local partners on EORE and VA methodologies.
• Oversee quality‑control of educational materials, messages and activities, ensuring compliance with HI SOPs.
• Analyse project and secondary data on AVR needs, produce regular reports and advise senior management.

Required profile

• Proven experience in humanitarian programmes related to explosive ordnance risk education or victim assistance.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate data into actionable recommendations.
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills for training diverse audiences.
• Ability to work in a conflict‑sensitive environment and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.

Required skills

• Knowledge of EORE and VA best‑practice tools and guidelines.
