Logistics Assistant

About the role

The International Committee of the Red Cross is seeking a motivated Logistics Assistant to support its Damazine Sub‑delegation. Reporting to the Logistician, the assistant will help ensure that all logistical operations comply with ICRC standards and institutional rules while contributing to humanitarian missions in a challenging environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide daily support to the Logistician and act as a liaison between Supply Chain, fleet, warehousing, AirOps, and Impex departments.
• Update service requesters on the status of logistics requests and assist with local procurement and supplier management.
• Monitor inventory, fuel levels, and manage filing/archiving of logistics documents.
• Coordinate vehicle movements, support mechanics with workshop reporting, and manage spare‑parts inventory.
• Organise cargo movements, liaise with transporters, prepare transport documents (LSOs), and ensure timely receipt of incoming cargo.
• Obtain necessary authorisations and permits from local authorities such as the Humanitarian Aid Commission.
• Serve as the primary backup for the Logistician during absences to maintain uninterrupted logistics operations.

Required profile

• Strong motivation for humanitarian work and ability to work under pressure in potentially dangerous environments.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business administration, logistics, or a related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in a similar logistics role.
• Detailed knowledge of the local area.

Required skills

• Very good command of spoken and written English.
• Computer literacy.
• Valid driving licence.
