Driver

About the role

The Driver will provide safe, reliable transportation for authorized personnel and cargo, support vehicle upkeep, and assist with administrative and facility tasks for UNOPS Sudan’s projects.

Key responsibilities

• Transport staff, cargo and, when required, hazardous goods safely and on schedule.
• Collect and deliver mail, documents and other items as needed.
• Meet personnel at the airport and facilitate immigration and customs procedures.
• Perform daily vehicle checks (oil, water, battery, brakes, tires) and keep accurate logs.
• Carry out minor repairs, arrange major servicing and ensure vehicles remain clean and road‑worthy.
• Respond to accidents in line with organisational policies.
• Assist administrative teams with procurement quotations, inventory records and office supply distribution.
• Support facility management by coordinating minor repairs, liaising with service providers and monitoring equipment performance.

Required profile

• Secondary school diploma (or equivalent) with at least 2 years relevant driving experience, or a Bachelor’s degree.
• Professionalism, courtesy and discretion when interacting with diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently and follow organisational rules.

Required skills

• Valid driver’s licence and safe driving techniques.
• Vehicle maintenance and basic mechanical repair skills.
• Knowledge of vehicle inspection procedures (oil, water, battery, brakes, tires).
• Basic inventory and procurement support skills.
• Familiarity with handling mail, documents and minor cargo.
