About the role
The United Nations Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) is seeking a Field Security Coordination Officer to support security risk management and operational planning in Kosti, Sudan. Reporting to the Chief Security Adviser, the officer will contribute to the UN’s mission of delivering programmes safely in complex environments.
Key responsibilities
- Provide substantive inputs for forecasting the evolving security environment and UN operational responses.
- Support development of risk‑management strategies using situational awareness and analytical techniques.
- Prepare, review, and implement security planning and risk‑management documents, delivering written analysis of security trends.
- Participate in meetings, committees, and task forces, preparing briefing papers and responding to security issues.
- Advise line managers on integrating security considerations throughout UN activities and programmes.
