Senior Protection Manager – Case Management & MHPSS

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Senior Protection Manager to lead case management and mental health & psychosocial support (MHPSS) services for GBV survivors and other vulnerable groups in Darfur, Sudan. This senior position combines strategic oversight, technical quality assurance, and direct supervision of multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and monitor integrated case management and MHPSS programmes in line with IASC MHPSS Guidelines, GBV Case Management Guidelines and SPHERE standards.
• Develop and update SOPs, protocols, referral pathways and service‑mapping tools.
• Conduct regular field monitoring visits and lead periodic programme reviews to adapt to evolving humanitarian needs.
• Supervise caseworkers, response officers and psychosocial support facilitators, providing coaching, performance management and capacity‑building training.
• Oversee delivery of psychological first aid, structured psychosocial support and safe identification and referral processes.
• Ensure ethical case file management and compliance with IRC data‑protection standards.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in humanitarian protection, case management and MHPSS, preferably in conflict‑affected settings.
• Proven leadership and supervisory skills with a track record of building local technical capacity.
• Strong understanding of survivor‑centred, trauma‑informed and gender‑responsive approaches.
• Ability to operate effectively in fast‑paced, complex emergency environments.
