Security Guard Supervisor

About the role
The United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) is seeking a Security Guard Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of its security guard teams. The role ensures the safety of UN staff, property and installations in the Abyei compound and reports all incidents to the Officer in Charge.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise and control entry and exit points, verifying identification, passes and authorisations for personnel, vehicles and visitors.
- Prevent unauthorised access to restricted or sensitive areas.
- Oversee daily deployment, performance and discipline of security guards.
- Conduct regular briefings, assign duties and ensure adherence to security protocols and SOPs.
- Organise and supervise foot and vehicle patrols inside and around the compound.
- Respond to, investigate and report any suspicious activities or security incidents.
- Maintain accurate records of security‑related activities, incidents and equipment accountability.
- Guide staff and visitors during emergencies such as fire, evacuation or medical incidents.
- Ensure smooth handover between shifts with proper briefing.
- Monitor attendance, conduct and dress code of security staff.
- Safeguard compound property, facilities and equipment against theft, damage or misuse.
- Ensure availability and proper use of security equipment such as radios and flashlights.
Required profile
- Locally recruited position; applicant must be legally authorised to work for the United Nations in Abyei.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one (1) year experience in UN Security Guard Force Management as a Team Leader.
- Ability to perform duties under the guidance of the Officer in Charge of the Compound Security Unit.
Required skills
- Knowledge of access‑control procedures and security SOPs.
- Ability to operate basic security equipment (radios, flashlights).
- Competence in incident reporting and record‑keeping.
