Protection Officer – Humanitarian Project in Sudan

About the role

The Protection Officer will support Trócaire’s 12‑month integrated humanitarian response in South Kordofan, Sudan. Working closely with local partners, the officer will ensure high‑quality protection services, especially for women and girls, while overseeing grant management and programme compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage grants to local partners, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and programme quality.
• Provide technical oversight and capacity‑building support to partners throughout implementation.
• Monitor and report on protection activities, including gender‑based violence prevention and response.
• Coordinate with health, food security, livelihoods and WASH teams to ensure integrated service delivery.
• Promote protection mainstreaming, safeguarding, accountability to affected populations and inclusion.

Required profile

• Experience working in humanitarian protection, preferably in conflict‑affected settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with local NGOs and international donors.
• Strong understanding of gender‑based violence prevention and survivor‑centred response.
• Commitment to Trócaire’s values of solidarity, courage, participation, perseverance and accountability.
