Manager, Country Security

About the role

The Country Security Manager supports the Country Director by overseeing safety and security for staff and programmes across the country. Reporting to the Country Director and technically to the Director of Global Security, the role ensures that security policies, risk assessments and emergency procedures are current and effectively implemented.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update Security Risk Assessments, Standard Operating Procedures and Contingency Plans for the country programme.
• Supervise, train and mentor national security officers and Security Focal Points.
• Coordinate daily security activities, ensuring compliance with internal policies and SOPs.
• Monitor security threats, provide briefings to field staff and design emergency radio networks and warden systems.
• Utilise the Incident Management System (IMS) for incident reporting, mapping and analysis.
• Collect and communicate security‑related information to the Director of Global Security and Country Director.
• Conduct investigations, capture lessons learned and incorporate them into future trainings.
• Participate in the Field Incident Team during crises and manage physical security of IMC facilities.
• Prepare weekly security reports and submit security risk assessments as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in security management within an international or humanitarian context.
• Ability to develop and maintain security risk assessments, SOPs and contingency plans.
• Strong supervisory skills to train and mentor security staff.
• Experience coordinating security activities and ensuring staff compliance with security policies.
• Capability to conduct investigations and produce actionable lessons learned.
