Safeguarding & Code of Conduct Specialist (Sudan)

About the role

The Safeguarding & Code of Conduct Specialist will support the Danish Refugee Council’s (DRC) operations in Sudan by ensuring compliance with DRC’s Code of Conduct and Safeguarding policies. Reporting to the Country Director and the Risk & Compliance Manager, the role will promote a culture of ethical conduct and lead investigations of suspected misconduct.

Key responsibilities

• Register and manage complaints received through hotlines, email, boxes and in‑person contacts.
• Advise reporting persons on DRC’s Code of Conduct structure, procedures and reporting options.
• Maintain the Code of Conduct Tracking Tool and coordinate feedback with the HQ Registrar or Intake Committee.
• Support data analysis on Code of Conduct reports and provide updates for senior management meetings.
• Conduct internal investigations under the supervision of an Authorizing Officer, produce high‑quality investigation and advisory reports, and monitor investigations as an Additional Authorizing Officer.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in safeguarding, code of conduct compliance or related investigations within humanitarian settings.
• Ability to work closely with country managers, staff and HQ units to develop and implement capacity‑building plans.
• Strong analytical skills for data review and reporting to senior management.
• Clear understanding of DRC’s safeguarding procedures and the authority structure for investigations.
