Protection Officer – Women Protection & Empowerment

About the role

The Women’s Protection and Empowerment (WPE) Officer will supervise and build the capacity of GBV caseworkers and community mobilizers, ensuring survivor‑centered case management and psychosocial support for women and adolescent girls. This role coordinates referrals, strengthens partner mechanisms, and leads GBV risk‑reduction activities to deliver holistic, integrated services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide daily guidance, supervision, and quality monitoring of GBV caseworkers and PSS facilitators.
• Ensure individual case management and group MHPSS activities follow IRC guidelines, GBV minimum standards, and WPE best practices.
• Conduct supervision visits, oversee safe and timely documentation, and monitor referrals.
• Receive, triage, and follow up on referrals from IRC sectors and external partners, integrating women and girls into appropriate services.
• Coordinate confidential referrals to health, legal, psychosocial, shelter, and livelihoods services, tracking outcomes.
• Lead GBV risk‑reduction initiatives and maintain liaison with IRC sectors, partners, and community representatives.

Required profile

• Experience supervising GBV caseworkers or similar protection staff.
• Strong knowledge of GBV minimum standards, IRC program guidelines, and humanitarian protection principles.
• Proven ability to coordinate multi‑sector referrals and build partnerships.
• Excellent communication, coaching, and reflective‑practice facilitation skills.
