Protection Officer – GBV & Programme Management

About the role

The Protection Officer will manage grants and provide technical oversight for a humanitarian programme in South Kordofan, Sudan. Working closely with local partners, the officer will ensure quality implementation, compliance with donor requirements and integration of gender‑based violence (GBV) safeguards across sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Support partners in programme cycle management, including capacity building, monitoring, evaluation, learning and budget tracking.
• Ensure timely, high‑quality narrative and financial reporting in line with donor standards.
• Lead GBV trainings for partner staff and embed GBV risk‑mitigation measures in health, WASH, nutrition and livelihoods activities.
• Oversee data collection, analysis and reporting, and promote accountability to affected communities, especially women and girls.
• Represent Trócaire at UN, NGO and coordination meetings at regional and national levels.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Humanitarian/Development Studies, Gender, International Relations, Human Rights Law or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of programme management experience, including at least 1 year of GBV programming.
• Experience working in humanitarian or insecure settings, preferably in South Kordofan or Sudan.
• Demonstrated commitment to gender equity and community‑based protection approaches.
