General Manager – Logistics, Port Sudan

About the role

AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a multimodal logistics operator (port, logistics, sea and rail) in Africa and part of the MSC Group, is hiring a General Manager for its Port Sudan operation. The role is temporary, full-time and based in Sudan, reporting to the Regional Managing Director, East Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the country's strategic plan in line with AGL's regional and global objectives, represent AGL with government bodies, industry associations and partners, and monitor macroeconomic, political and regulatory developments.
• Oversee Shipping, Sea Freight, Air Freight, Warehousing and Commercial departments, ensuring efficiency, service quality and adherence to SOPs, and lead organizational transformation and continuous improvement.
• Take full accountability for the country's profit and loss, present monthly and quarterly business reviews, approve high-value quotes, tenders and investments, and mitigate risk.
• Oversee office management, procurement, asset control and facility maintenance, ensure compliance with labor laws, health and safety regulations and HR policies, and coordinate with HR on recruitment and employee relations.
• Build and lead a high-performing leadership team across Port Sudan and Khartoum, drive talent development, succession planning and performance management.
• Cultivate client relationships, support commercial teams in negotiations and pricing, and resolve escalated issues.
• Ensure compliance with local laws and international standards, lead internal governance such as credit committees and customer onboarding, and oversee risk management and business continuity planning.

Required profile

• Solution-oriented, with team spirit and the ability to take initiative.
• Technical curiosity and the ability to lead a team toward a common goal.
• Fluent in Arabic.

Required skills

• Good command of Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communicator.
• Knowledge of AGL business tools (SPOT, Way, Power BI) is a plus.
• Financial reporting: detailed P&L per commodity unit (monthly).
