Partner Finance Officer

About the role

The Partner Finance Officer will support the financial management capacity and compliance of Trócaire’s partner organisations in Sudan. Working from Kurchi, you will provide hands‑on monitoring, review and capacity‑strengthening to ensure partner financial reporting and systems meet Trócaire and donor requirements. You will report to the Programme Accountant and the position is offered on a one‑year fixed‑term contract with possible extension.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in partner risk pre‑assessments, PCAs and grant start‑up meetings.
• Conduct regular financial monitoring visits and mid‑term reviews of partner organisations, assessing compliance with Trócaire and donor financial rules.
• Review monthly partner financial reports, liquidations and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness and eligibility of expenditure.
• Support the verification of partner‑managed fund expenditures.
• Ensure all partner financial documentation is securely filed and readily available for audit.
• Assist partners in meeting reporting schedules and aligning financial reports with approved budgets and grant requirements.
• Identify gaps in financial management standards, develop action plans and track remediation, including handling derogations where necessary.
• Liaise with partner Finance Managers and internal accounting teams to resolve issues.

Required profile

• Experience in financial monitoring, reporting and compliance within an NGO or humanitarian context.
• Familiarity with donor financial requirements and grant management processes.
• Ability to travel to partner sites in Sudan and work effectively in remote environments.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
