Operations Officer

About the role

The Operations Officer will act as a Strategic Business Partner for UNICEF in Kassala, Sudan. This fixed‑term position supports the delivery of programmes for children by managing core operational functions and ensuring value for money, risk mitigation, and efficient service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee budget preparation, financial management, and reporting for the country office.
• Manage facilities, administration, and safety & security services, with a focus on inclusive accessibility and eco‑sustainability.
• Coordinate supply chain, procurement, and logistics activities to meet programme needs while ensuring value for money.
• Support ICT management, information security, and related controls.
• Provide human‑resources support and promote people‑resource strategies.
• Facilitate business transactions processed by the Global Shared Services Centre, ensuring efficiency, performance, risk management, and fraud prevention.
• Assist with internal and external audit processes, respond to observations, and monitor implementation of recommendations.
• Contribute to risk‑informed analysis and advice for programme and management decisions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in multi‑disciplinary operational support within an international or humanitarian organization.
• Strong understanding of budget, finance, procurement, logistics, ICT, HR, and security functions.
• Ability to work collaboratively with programme teams and external partners.
• Commitment to UNICEF’s mission of promoting children’s rights.
