Field Security Assistant – Security Liaison & Quick Assistance

About the role

The Field Security Assistant supports the Security Liaison and Quick Assistance Team Leader in implementing security operations, managing safety and security, and providing rapid assistance during incidents for United Nations personnel in Khartoum.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general support services to ensure the safety and security of UN and humanitarian personnel.
• Assist with data consolidation, dissemination of security information, and preparation of security plans and reports.
• Draft correspondence, maintain incident records, and support the implementation of the Security Plan.
• Help review logistical requirements for response procedures, drills, and security exercises.
• Report security incidents affecting UN and partner personnel, offices, and assets.
• Monitor and facilitate implementation of security policies in coordination with the Team Leader.
• Organize security awareness activities, briefings, and orientation for staff.
• Prepare induction training materials, security presentations, travel advisories, and support CASEVAC/MEDEVAC operations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; specialized security training or advanced driving certificates are desirable.
• Minimum three years of relevant security, risk, or emergency experience (reduced to one year with a university degree).
• Experience with UN or international NGOs, including liaison and coordination for access.
• Demonstrated professionalism, quick decision‑making in emergencies, and strong teamwork.
• Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks while managing risks.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
• Use of security communication systems, including radio communications.
• Specialized security training and certifications (e.g., advanced or armored vehicle driving).
