Economic Recovery Assistant

About the role

The Economic Recovery Assistant works under the direct supervision of the Economic Recovery Team Leader to support livelihood programmes in Sudan. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with DRC procedures and donor guidelines while delivering cash‑for‑work, vocational training, entrepreneurship support, MSME strengthening and financial inclusion initiatives for vulnerable populations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide administrative and technical support for emergency and livelihood activities, including cash‑for‑work, TVET, business grants and job referrals.
• Assist the sector officer in complying with DRC and donor processes, ensuring quality planning, implementation and follow‑up of activities.
• Carry out beneficiary identification, needs assessments, and distribution of cash or in‑kind assistance.
• Support the Economic Recovery Officer in rolling out livelihood counselling forms and collecting beneficiary data.
• Enter and update beneficiary information and referrals in DRC’s database accurately and promptly.
• Prepare purchase requests, purchase orders, service contracts and conduct financial reconciliation and output tracking.
• Coordinate with Protection and other teams to mainstream protection across all activities.
• Ensure timely reporting of outputs and escalation of implementation issues.

Required profile

• Base‑level focus with a strong commitment to complying with DRC procedures and donor requirements.
• Ability to support sector officers in planning, implementing and monitoring emergency livelihood activities.
• Experience in beneficiary identification, data collection and coordination with local stakeholders.
