About the role
The WatHab WaSH Project Officer will lead the planning, design and implementation of water supply projects in Khartoum, supporting ICRC’s water and habitat assistance objectives. Working closely with local authorities and stakeholders, the officer will ensure projects are sustainable, climate‑smart and aligned with national water management frameworks.
Key responsibilities
- Identify community needs through assessments, surveys and stakeholder engagement.
- Prepare technical documents such as assessments, reports, engineering drawings, bills of quantities and contracts.
- Monitor project implementation for compliance with ICRC standards, local codes and project specifications.
- Integrate water, environmental and climate data into project designs to promote resilience.
- Support capacity‑building initiatives for local service providers.
- Oversee the full project cycle from proposal to closure, including Monitoring & Evaluation.
Required profile
- Relevant engineering or water‑resource background.
- Experience in water sector projects, preferably in urban settings.
- Ability to work with diverse stakeholders and conduct thorough assessments.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate existing systems and propose improvements.
