Associate Construction Management Engineer

About the role

The Associate Construction Management Engineer supports the planning, implementation and monitoring of infrastructure projects for UNOPS Sudan. The role ensures that construction works are carried out in line with design specifications, quality standards, safety requirements and donor expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical input on work plans, drawings and specifications during design and procurement.
• Monitor on‑site construction activities to verify compliance with design, technical specifications and contractual obligations.
• Conduct quality inspections, verify material compliance and ensure safety and environmental standards meet UNOPS HSSE requirements.
• Support resolution of technical and operational issues in coordination with contractors and the project manager.
• Verify contractor progress, prepare and review Interim Payment Certificates and maintain accurate documentation for disbursement.
• Review variation orders and cost claims for technical accuracy and value for money.
• Prepare regular site progress reports and document construction milestones.
• Maintain coordination with end‑users, contractors, consultants and local authorities, and facilitate effective communication among all stakeholders.

Required profile

• Experience in construction project monitoring and contractor management.
• Familiarity with quality assurance, safety and environmental standards in infrastructure projects.
• Ability to produce clear technical reports and documentation.
