Sudanese Arabic Audio Transcription Expert

About the role

We are looking for an expert Sudanese Arabic transcriber to convert native‑speaker audio recordings into accurate, time‑aligned written transcripts. The transcripts will support speech‑recognition, dialogue, and evaluation systems for leading AI laboratories.

Key responsibilities

• Transcribe audio recordings following Perle’s style guide, ensuring correct speaker identification, overlapping speech, disfluencies, fillers, false starts, and non‑speech events.
• Make orthographic decisions for dialectal, colloquial, and code‑switched speech, using Modern Standard Arabic conventions where appropriate.
• Flag ambiguous segments, uncertain speakers, and audio‑quality issues according to project conventions.
• Self‑review each submission against quality standards before delivery.
• Collaborate with QA reviewers on edge cases, calibration sessions, and style‑guide updates.

Required profile

• Native fluency in Sudanese Arabic with lifelong residence or deep immersion in Sudan.
• Strong command of Modern Standard Arabic for orthographic decisions.
• At least two years of professional experience in transcription, captioning, court reporting, broadcast, translation, or linguistic annotation.
• Proven ability to maintain high word‑level accuracy under deadline pressure.
• Reliable high‑speed internet, quality headphones, and a quiet workspace.

Required skills

• Familiarity with regional variation across Sudanese‑speaking governorates.
• Comfort with web‑based annotation platforms and variable‑speed audio playback.
