Senior Youth Employment & Skills Development Expert

About the role

NTU International is seeking a senior expert to lead youth employment and skills development initiatives within a EU‑funded technical assistance project for ECOWAS transport governance. The role will shape programmes that enhance vocational training, workforce capacity and youth participation across West Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement youth employment and skills development actions linked to transport, logistics and infrastructure sectors.
• Provide technical assistance on vocational training, professional development and capacity‑building programmes.
• Conduct labour‑market and skills‑gap analyses for transport‑related occupations.
• Develop youth‑focused training curricula, internship schemes and employment pathways.
• Advise ECOWAS institutions and Member States on inclusion strategies and skills frameworks.
• Coordinate with universities, training institutes, public authorities, private sector partners and development agencies.
• Deliver workshops, consultations and capacity‑building sessions for young professionals.
• Support monitoring, reporting and evaluation of youth and skills initiatives.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in education, labour economics, human‑resource development, social sciences, public policy or a related field.
• At least 10 years of professional experience in youth employment, vocational training or workforce capacity‑building, with a minimum of 7 years in senior‑level roles.
• Proven experience in development, infrastructure or social‑inclusion projects in developing countries, preferably Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Experience with international development cooperation and donor‑funded programmes.
