Security & Safety Officer

About the role

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) seeks a Security & Safety Officer to support its mission of protecting people affected by armed conflict. The role involves assessing security risks, advising management, and ensuring the safety of staff, assets, and operations across the delegation.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, analyse and disseminate security‑related data and incident reports.
• Conduct risk assessments and advise on mitigation measures for staff, operations and reputation.
• Maintain a database and mapping of security incidents, threats and trends.
• Monitor implementation of security procedures and provide briefings and training.
• Support management in evaluating the safety of residences, training sites and other facilities.
• Manage security service contracts and supervise security guards where required.
• Develop external networks with police, law‑enforcement agencies and private security firms.
• Assist in handling judicial investigations related to security or safety incidents.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in security risk assessment and incident management.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to produce accurate reports.
• Excellent communication and training abilities.
• Capacity to work discreetly and maintain confidentiality.
• Leadership qualities to mentor staff and oversee security personnel.
