Protection Officer

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking a Protection Officer to lead daily case‑management activities for survivors of gender‑based violence (GBV) across its programmes in Sudan. The role focuses on ensuring high‑quality protection services, safeguarding confidentiality, and supporting field staff in delivering both individual and collective psychosocial support.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily case‑management interventions, including individual case management and collective psychosocial support (PSS).
• Ensure all case‑management activities follow DRC SOPs, global standards, and inter‑agency GBV guidelines.
• Utilise and maintain all required tools, forms, and documentation while adhering to confidentiality and information‑sharing protocols.
• Coordinate with external service providers to secure medical, mental‑health, and material assistance for survivors.
• Monitor referrals, conduct systematic follow‑up, and identify emerging trends or gaps in service delivery.
• Provide technical guidance to Protection Assistants on collective PSS activities and Individual Protection Assistance (IPA), including cash or in‑kind distributions.
• Document case data accurately and ensure timely reporting to protection management.

Required profile

• Proven experience in humanitarian protection, specifically GBV case management.
• Strong knowledge of inter‑agency GBV guidelines and DRC protection SOPs.
• Ability to supervise and mentor field staff while maintaining high standards of confidentiality.
• Excellent coordination skills with a focus on multi‑agency referral pathways.
