Protection Coordinator – Women’s Protection & Empowerment

About the role

The Protection Coordinator leads the Women’s Protection & Empowerment (WPE) program for the International Rescue Committee in Darfur, ensuring survivor‑centered GBV prevention and response in a complex emergency setting. The role combines strategic leadership, technical oversight, and field‑based supervision to deliver high‑quality services to women and girls.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic vision and technical quality assurance for WPE programming across Darfur.
• Supervise and mentor WPE teams, ensuring safe, confidential GBV case management and referral services.
• Develop and continuously refine a Darfur‑specific WPE strategy in collaboration with field teams, senior management, and external partners.
• Ensure ethical data collection, management, and use of GBVIMS for analysis, planning, monitoring, evaluation, and advocacy.
• Foster a collaborative, learning‑oriented environment with attention to staff care and professional development.

Required profile

• Proven experience in GBV programming and humanitarian emergency response.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills in insecure, low‑access environments.
• Ability to develop strategic plans and adapt interventions to evolving contexts.
• Commitment to survivor‑centered approaches and ethical data handling.

Required skills

• Experience with GBVIMS or similar gender‑based violence information management systems.
• Proficiency in data collection, management, and analysis for program monitoring and advocacy.
