Operations Chair (Board Leadership)

About the role

The Operations Chair provides inspired leadership for InDependent’s Operations Committee and works closely with the Board to shape policy, strategy, and operational processes. This volunteer board position ensures that the organization runs efficiently, supports volunteer and staff growth, and upholds the mission through continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Operations Committee and support other committee chairs in executing the mission.
• Develop and implement long‑term strategies for volunteer and staff recruitment, recognition, and retention.
• Manage internal systems, streamline processes, and research tools or software to improve operational efficiency.
• Identify and address internal challenges and opportunities, collaborating with the Executive Board and other committees.
• Document Board activities, communicate updates to committee chairs, and act as Secretary on the Executive Committee.
• Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and teamwork throughout the organization.
