MEAL Coordinator – Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning

About the role

We are seeking a MEAL Coordinator to lead monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning activities for Welthungerhilfe’s Country Strategy in Sudan. The role will ensure rigorous, ethical data management and support evidence‑based decision‑making across food‑system, climate‑resilience and humanitarian programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and periodically review the Country MEAL Strategy and action plan in line with organisational and donor standards.
• Establish and strengthen MEAL standards, procedures, tools and quality‑assurance mechanisms for WHH and partner‑implemented programmes.
• Provide evidence‑based advice to senior leadership on programme performance, risks, evidence gaps and adaptation opportunities.
• Translate the Country Strategy into an integrated performance and learning framework and coordinate regular portfolio reviews.
• Lead technical quality assurance for programme design, theories of change, logframes, indicators, sampling, data‑collection tools and evaluation requirements.
• Oversee the application of WHH’s Measuring Success framework and ensure protection‑sensitive data handling.
• Mentor and develop MEAL staff, build capacity of programme teams and partners, and embed learning and adaptive management across the portfolio.

Required profile

• Proven experience in monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong understanding of food‑system, climate‑resilience and humanitarian programme cycles.
• Ability to provide strategic, evidence‑based guidance to senior management.
• Experience leading and supervising MEAL teams and building partner capacity.
• Commitment to ethical, protection‑sensitive data practices.
