Land Surveyor

About the role

The United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) is seeking a qualified Land Surveyor on a 6‑month consultancy to support its infrastructure projects. The role involves delivering accurate geospatial data, topographic and boundary surveys, and producing geo‑referenced maps essential for planning and construction activities in the Abyei region.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed topographic and boundary surveys for camps, roads, facilities and utilities.
• Prepare geo‑referenced survey maps, profiles and technical reports using AutoCAD, GIS, Infraworks and Global Mapper.
• Record terrain data including elevations, contours and land features.
• Assist in site layout, set construction boundaries and verify design alignments.
• Supervise junior survey staff and coordinate with external surveyors.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date digital database of all survey records.
• Provide regular progress updates, recommend solutions to survey challenges and support emergency survey needs.
• Contribute to cost estimates for survey‑related works.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying or Civil Engineering with formal surveying training.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in land surveying and infrastructure projects.
• Fluency in spoken and written English (French is a UN working language but not required for this posting).
• Prior UN or international field experience is desirable.
