INGO Forum Director – Sudan

About the role

The INGO Forum Director will lead the coordination platform for international NGOs operating in Sudan, based in Port Sudan with regular travel to Nairobi and multiple locations across the country. Reporting to the Forum’s governing board, the Director will ensure unified advocacy, access negotiations and operational alignment among 78 member organisations during a critical humanitarian emergency.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑lead the Humanitarian Access Working Group alongside OCHA, facilitating access negotiations with government and non‑state actors.
• Drive collective advocacy through the Advocacy Working Group, engaging donors, UN agencies and national authorities.
• Coordinate information flow between Forum members and external partners to optimise aid delivery.
• Provide strategic guidance on access barriers, document trends and produce recommendations for joint positioning.
• Represent the Forum within the Humanitarian Country Team and Inter‑Cluster Coordination Group.
• Oversee the convening of member meetings, resource sharing and capacity‑building activities.

Required profile

• Extensive experience (minimum 8 years) in humanitarian coordination or senior programme management.
• Proven track record of leading multi‑stakeholder initiatives in conflict‑affected settings.
• Strong understanding of Sudan’s humanitarian context, including access constraints and donor landscape.
• Willingness to travel frequently within Sudan and to regional hubs such as Nairobi.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with high accountability.
