Financial Controller

About the role

AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a multimodal logistics operator (port, logistics, sea and rail) in Africa and part of the MSC Group, is hiring a Financial Controller in Port Sudan, Sudan. The position is full-time and on a fixed-term contract.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, and ensure timely and accurate consolidation packs and financial reports.
• Review and validate reports such as P&L variance, AR, NWC and activity reports.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting with department heads, monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.
• Develop and enforce internal financial controls, ensure compliance with tax regulations and statutory requirements, and support internal and external audits.
• Monitor cash flow, manage disbursements, optimise working capital, oversee bank reconciliations and treasury operations.
• Act as a super user for financial systems (e.g. IRIS, GESIM) and drive automation and efficiency in financial processes.
• Supervise and mentor the finance team, including Chief and Senior Accountants, and foster accountability and integrity.
• Provide financial insights for strategic planning, take part in cost control initiatives and business performance reviews, and perform other duties assigned by the CFO or executive management.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of financial regulations, tax laws and accounting standards.
• Ability to lead budgeting, forecasting and internal controls, and to supervise a finance team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in financial software.
• Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.
