Deputy Country Director – Program Development, Quality & Innovation

About the role

The Deputy Country Director – PDQI will join the Senior Management Team of Save the Children Sudan, providing strategic leadership across humanitarian and development programmes. The role supports a culture of accountability, learning and high performance to deliver results for children.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and quality assurance of child‑focused programmes, ensuring alignment with Save the Children’s global frameworks and local needs.
• Provide strategic vision, develop annual plans, and coordinate technical inputs for country strategies, proposals and reports.
• Oversee monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning systems, ensuring findings inform programme improvement and policy influence.
• Manage partnerships with government, donors, NGOs and regional offices, and ensure compliance with safeguarding and operational standards.
• Support staff recruitment, performance management, mentorship and professional development across program sectors.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in programme management, strategic planning and partnership building in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑sectoral teams, drive quality improvement and ensure compliance with child safeguarding policies.
