Country Director Sudan

About the role

Lead Welthungerhilfe’s country programme in Sudan, overseeing humanitarian assistance and long‑term development across multiple states. Provide strategic leadership in a complex, evolving context while ensuring alignment with the organisation’s global strategy and values.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic leadership and management of the country programme, ensuring high‑quality humanitarian and development programming.
• Drive financial sustainability through resource mobilisation, diversifying funding sources and managing budgets efficiently.
• Lead and develop a senior management team, fostering a culture of accountability, learning and innovation.
• Ensure effective risk management, safeguarding, security, duty of care and business continuity.
• Represent Welthungerhilfe in relevant forums, build strategic partnerships and serve as the legal representative in Sudan.

Required profile

• Significant senior leadership experience in fragile and conflict‑affected contexts.
• Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams, including remote management.
• Demonstrated systems leadership linking strategy, programmes, finance, operations and partnerships.
• Extensive experience managing integrated humanitarian and development portfolios.
• Full professional proficiency in English; Arabic is an asset.
