Country Director Sudan

About the role

Welthungerhilfe seeks an experienced leader to head its Sudan country programme, overseeing humanitarian assistance and long‑term development across multiple states. The role is based in Khartoum, with the office moving to Port Sudan if security conditions require.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and overall management of WHH’s country programme in a complex, evolving context.
• Lead high‑quality humanitarian and development programming, driving innovation and the Food Systems Approach.
• Ensure financial sustainability through resource mobilisation, diversification of funding, and efficient financial stewardship.
• Manage and develop a diverse senior management team, fostering a culture of accountability, learning and innovation.
• Maintain strong relationships with international and national partners, represent WHH in relevant forums, and serve as the legal representative in Sudan.

Required profile

• Significant senior leadership experience in fragile and conflict‑affected contexts.
• Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary and geographically dispersed teams, including remote management.
• Extensive experience managing integrated humanitarian and development portfolios.
• Strong track record in resource mobilisation, business development and organizational sustainability.
• Full professional proficiency in English; Arabic is an asset.
