Area Coordinator – Sudan

About the role

COOPI is seeking an Area Coordinator to lead its humanitarian programmes in Sudan. Based in Port Sudan, the coordinator will oversee integrated interventions in WASH, Food Security, Livelihoods and Shelter, targeting refugees, IDPs, returnees, women, children and other vulnerable groups.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the planning, implementation and monitoring of COOPI projects in Khartoum and North Darfur.
• Ensure that programmes mainstream Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Action, Gender and Protection principles.
• Maintain relationships with donors such as AICS, the European Union and UN agencies, ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
• Supervise field staff, manage logistics and reporting, and guarantee adherence to humanitarian standards.
• Facilitate community‑based approaches to build long‑term resilience among target populations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in humanitarian programme management, preferably in Sudan or similar contexts.
• Strong understanding of integrated WASH, Food Security, Livelihoods and Shelter interventions.
• Ability to work with diverse vulnerable groups, including women, children, the elderly and persons with disabilities.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills with donors and partners.
