Administrative Officer

About the role

The Administrative Officer supports the Chief of Mission Support (CMS) in Abyei, providing expert advice and managing a wide range of administrative, financial and logistical functions for the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA).

Key responsibilities

• Assist the CMS in developing and implementing the mission’s administrative and financial management framework.
• Provide expert advice on budgeting, financial management, HR, supply‑chain, procurement, ICT, auditing and information management.
• Develop, coordinate and monitor work plans for the Mission Support Division and evaluate support to mission components.
• Prepare case presentations, analyses and recommendations for the CMS on administrative, logistic and financial matters.
• Lead drafting of major reports, policies, directives, guidelines and decision briefs, ensuring compliance with UN rules.
• Draft correspondence, code cables, notes verbales and memoranda on behalf of the CMS.
• Manage engagements with UN agencies, funds, programmes and external entities, overseeing SLAs, MOUs, LOUs and financial agreements.
• Liaise with senior mission officials, local authorities and stakeholders on administrative issues.
• Support audits, special reviews, crisis management and contingency planning.

Required profile

• Proven experience in administrative and financial management within an international or UN context.
• Strong knowledge of UN rules, regulations and procurement guidelines.
• Ability to draft policies, directives and high‑level reports.
• Experience coordinating with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
