Senior Security Officer

About the role

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is seeking a Senior Security Officer to support the Head of Country Cluster Delegation and the Regional Security Coordinator in Khartoum, Sudan. The role focuses on day‑to‑day strategic and operational security management across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the Head of Country Delegation and Operations Manager on security matters affecting personnel and assets.
• Ensure implementation of IFRC’s Minimum Security Requirements (MSR) in Sudan.
• Monitor the volatile security situation country‑wide and assess travel routes to project sites.
• Guide the in‑country security risk management process, including comprehensive risk assessments.
• Coordinate security processes and procedures to improve overall security management in operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in security management within humanitarian or similar environments.
• Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and security standards.
• Ability to provide technical guidance on security issues in appeals and budgets.
• Excellent communication skills to support senior leadership.
