Safety and Security Manager

About the role

The Safety and Security Manager (SSM) will lead World Relief Sudan’s safety and security management system, ensuring safe and effective program delivery in complex, high‑risk environments. Reporting to the Country Director and technically to the Global Safety and Security Manager, the SSM balances program criticality with risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve the country safety and security framework, including risk assessments, security plans and SOPs.
• Maintain location‑specific risk levels, movement and access protocols, and integrate risk data into organizational tools such as travel approval platforms.
• Provide ongoing context analysis, security briefings and actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
• Serve as the lead technical advisor during security incidents and crises, supporting incident analysis, response options, evacuation planning and after‑action reviews.
• Design and deliver security training programs for all staff, including HEAT‑related content.

Required profile

• Proven experience establishing and managing safety and security systems in humanitarian or high‑risk settings.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments, develop security plans and produce clear security briefings.
• Experience advising senior leadership on risk exposure and mitigation options.
• Capability to lead incident response and crisis management activities.
