Remote Medical Coder

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will apply US or UK coding standards to complex patient records, ensuring accurate reimbursement and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyze inpatient and outpatient medical records to assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, NHS and payer‑specific guidelines.
• Identify documentation gaps, query clinicians, and resolve coding discrepancies.
• Correct coding errors and address claim denials to protect revenue.
• Participate in audits and uphold high data‑integrity standards.
• Stay current with coding guideline updates and regulatory changes.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hospital coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or the UK equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and pharmacology.
• Proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, EMIS Web or SystmOne.
• Excellent attention to detail and pattern‑recognition skills.
• Reliable computer, high‑speed internet and a verified backup power source.
• Quiet, secure, HIPAA/GDPR‑compliant workspace.
